Katt Howard
follow the journey...

I am Katt Howard, a Denver-based, classically trained vocalist with a renewed passion for the stage. After a thirty-year hiatus from public performance, I am reclaiming my ambition of becoming a professional opera singer.
Currently training at The Lisa Walecki Vocal Studio, I am honing my technique in both opera and musical theater. While preparing for regional opera auditions, I am active in the local musical theater scene. This site serves as a portfolio of my work and a chronicle of my journey back to center stage.

about the artist...
my origin story...
My musical journey began unexpectedly in the sixth grade when I switched from band to choir and instantly fell in love with singing. Supported by incredible mentors—particularly my high school choir director, the late Mr. Pittman—I found the encouragement I needed to believe in my talent.
This passion led me to his alma mater, William Carey College, as a Vocal Music Performance major. However, faced with a rigorous piano requirement and lacking prior formal training, I made the difficult choice to leave the program. I shifted gears, eventually building a successful career in computer science and software testing, and for thirty years, the music went silent.
Three years ago, everything changed. Seeking a fresh start and a commitment to finally living for myself, I relocated from Louisville to Denver. Curious if my voice had survived the hiatus, I booked a lesson at The Lisa Walecki Vocal Studio. The result was a revelation. My coach's immediate encouragement pushed me to audition, leading to my casting in Legally Blonde: The Musical and marking my official return to the stage.
Today, the hardest part is simply maintaining confidence in my own voice. While time may have shifted my original dream of being an artist-in-residence at the Met, my ambition has only evolved. I am now dedicated to pursuing chorus and ensemble roles in regional opera houses, proving that it is never too late to fulfill your true purpose.
